Ingredients
- 1 c soft unsalted butter
- 1 c firm packed brown sugar
- 1½ T instant coffee
- ½ t baking powder
- ¼ t salt
- 2 heaping cups sifted flour
- 1 c chocolate chips
- ½ c chopped blanched almonds (slivered)
- Icing
- 1 T soft butter
- ¾ c sifted powdered sugar
- ⅛ t almond extract
- a few teaspoons of milk
Instructions
- Cream soft unsalted butter and brown sugar
- Blend in almond extract
- Mix dry ingredient and add to creamed butter and sugar slowly
- Stir in chocolate chips and chopped blanched almonds (slivered)
- Pat flat into jelly roll pan 15 x 10) and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes
- Frost when warm with almond icing:
- Mix together butter, powdered sugar, and almond extract with enough milk to spread easily
- Cut while warm into bite size pieces (1x2 inch)
