Words from the Heart: Making a Meaningful Life

Every adult needs to ask or be asked: how do you make your life have meaning and purpose? As David Brooks challenged the graduates of Brandeis University in 2011, “What question needs YOU as the answer?” There will be moments that we want to memorialize, lessons we don’t want to forget, phrases we overhear and think about days later — how do we take the day-to-day inspiration of life and use these to make life more meaningful? Poetry. Song-writing. Blogging. Cartooning. Dancing. Mandala-making. Whatever artistic expression you choose, the message is clear: choose something!

The workshop format offers a smørgasbørd of hands-on modalities to grab meaning and make it yours. Everyone gets to try something new, whether it’s drawing with your non-dominant hand or creating an interpretive dance to express a story, or writing your first song.

Great for teachers who want to spice up your toolkit of techniques, for anyone interested in reclaiming their creative spark.
