Ingredients
  • 1 c soft unsalted butter
  • 1 c firm packed brown sugar
  • 1½ T instant coffee
  • ½ t baking powder
  • ¼ t salt
  • 2 heaping cups sifted flour
  • 1 c chocolate chips
  • ½ c chopped blanched almonds (slivered)
  • Icing
  • 1 T soft butter
  • ¾ c sifted powdered sugar
  • ⅛ t almond extract
  • a few teaspoons of milk
Instructions
  1. Cream soft unsalted butter and brown sugar
  2. Blend in almond extract
  3. Mix dry ingredient and add to creamed butter and sugar slowly
  4. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped blanched almonds (slivered)
  5. Pat flat into jelly roll pan 15 x 10) and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes
  6. Frost when warm with almond icing:
  7. Mix together butter, powdered sugar, and almond extract with enough milk to spread easily
  8. Cut while warm into bite size pieces (1x2 inch)
